Job Opening: Police Chief
The Town of Effingham, NH (approximate population 1,830) is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate to serve as the Chief of Police. The Effingham Police Department consists of the Police Chief, two (2) full-time officers, and four (4) part-time officers.
The Police Chief is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the Effingham Police Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build a respected department, earning the confidence of residents, community organizations, and surrounding municipalities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides Leadership and Supervision of all Department Personnel
- Enforce State Laws and Town Ordinances
- Develop and Implement Departmental policies, procedures, and training programs
- Prepare and Administer the Department’s budget
- Oversee Recruitment, Training, Evaluations, and Discipline of Personnel related matters
- Coordinate with Mutual Aid and Regional Law Enforcement Cooperation
- Acts as the Department’s representative to the Public and other agencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current New Hampshire Police Officer Certification
- Ability to meet and maintain all certification, fitness, and continuing education requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or commanding role, preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and successful completion of a background investigation

Compensation will be dependent based on experience.
